Overview
- Positioning: A filling machine family built on piston-type volumetric dosing as its core technology, covering every packaging scenario from water-thin liquids to high-viscosity pastes, and from particle-free to fine-powder materials. More than 200 models, positioned along three axes: material form × fill volume × degree of automation.
- Core technology: Pneumatic piston volumetric filling, fitted with Taiwan Airtac pneumatic components and German SICK photoelectric sensors. All-pneumatic models need no power supply and are inherently explosion-proof.
- Filling accuracy: Piston type ≤ ±1%; magnetic pump type ≤ ±2%; powder and granule weighing ≤ ±1% (granule weighing ±1–5%).
- Fill volume coverage: 2.5 ml (smallest hand press) → 5,000 ml (standard models) → 25–50 kg (bulk weighing machines).
- Automation ladder: Hand press (A03) → semi-automatic pneumatic (F6/FF6 series) → semi-automatic CNC / magnetic pump (GFK-160 / DF-A) → automatic multi-head (A2/A4/A6/A8, FA2/FA4/FA6) → fully automatic complete line (unscrambler + filler + capper + labeler + conveyor).
- Best-selling models: Horizontal all-pneumatic single-head liquid F6, horizontal all-pneumatic single-head paste FF6, double-head liquid DF6, double-head paste DFF6; automatic liquid A2/A4/A6, automatic paste FA2/FA4/FA6.
- Material standard: 201 stainless steel body, 304 stainless steel product-contact parts (316 optional), silicone seals (heat resistant to 200 °C) or corrosion-resistant rubber, compliant with food-grade and GMP requirements.
- Customization: Fill volume band, number of filling heads (1/2/4/6/8), hopper type (standard / agitated / heated & agitated), material (304 / 316 / PTFE piston), nozzle diameter (3–12 mm), bottle type (made to customer sample), conveyor length, voltage (220 V / 110 V) and explosion-proof requirements are all customizable. Lead time for custom machines and complete lines: 30–55 working days.
- Typical industries served: household and personal care, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, agrochemicals, chemicals, flavors and fragrances, lubricants, aerosols, e-liquid, sauces and condiments.
1. What Is a Filling Machine
1.1 Definition
A filling machine is packaging equipment that dispenses liquids, pastes, powders or granules into bottles, cans, pouches, cups or drums to a preset volume or weight. It is the core station on a filling line: upstream it interfaces with bottle unscrambling and feeding, downstream with capping, labeling, coding and case packing.
In this product range, filling machines are divided into five categories by material form, each with its own dosing principle and model family:
| Material form | Product name | Model family | Typical materials |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liquid | Liquid filling machine | F series (F2/F3/F6), DF series (double head) | water, oil, juice, milk, wine, hand sanitizer, disinfectant, liquid medicine |
| Paste / viscous | Paste filling machine | FF series (FF2/FF4/FF5/FF6/FF9), DFF series (double head) | shampoo, toothpaste, sauce, ketchup, honey, skin cream, nail polish |
| Powder | Powder filling machine | PDF / ADF / SDF series | milk powder, flour, seasoning powder, detergent powder, medicinal powder, additives |
| Granule | Granule weighing machine | GPM / KY series | rice, MSG, chicken bouillon, seeds, feed, nuts, hardware parts |
| Aerosol | Aerosol filling machine | AF series | insecticide spray, hair spray, air freshener, mousse |
1.2 Working Principle
1.2.1 Comparison of Five Dosing Methods
| Dosing method | Principle | Accuracy | Suitable materials | Representative models |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Piston volumetric (mainstream) | A cylinder drives the piston up and down; the piston chamber creates negative pressure to draw material in, then pushes forward to discharge a metered dose | ≤ ±1% | liquids and pastes (no particles, or only very fine particles) | F6 / FF6 / DF6 / DFF6 / A2 / FA2 |
| Magnetic pump / gear pump dosing | Imported inverter plus a high-precision multi-turn potentiometer controls pump speed; dosing by accumulated flow | ≤ ±2% (repeatability <0.5%) | low-viscosity, corrosion-resistant liquids (acids, alkalis, oils, liquid medicine) | DF-A / DF-2A / YT-1 |
| Vacuum suction + level positioning | Continuous vacuum fills the bottle; excess material returns automatically to the tank; the nozzle insertion depth determines the final level | ≤ ±1% | perfume, florida water, foaming liquids (bottle height consistency not required) | YT-2 / YT-4 / APF-500 |
| Auger dosing | A stepper motor drives an auger of the appropriate size; photoelectric tracking corrects the error | ≤ ±1% | powders, ultrafine powders, small granules | PDF-500 / ADF-500 / SDF-500 |
| Electronic weighing | High-precision digital load cell plus three-speed (fast/slow) variable-frequency feed, corrected by real-time weighing | ±0.3% (bulk) to ±1–5% (small packs) | granules, lumps, materials prone to segregation | GPM-2A / GPM-2B / KY-C25KG |
1.2.2 Standard Working Flow
Infeed (manual/automatic) → container located (photoelectric/positioning claw) → filling head descends → metered fill → filling head rises
→ outfeed → [automatic line only] cap placement → capping/pressing → labeling → coding → case packing
Semi-automatic models (F6/FF6/DF6/DFF6 and similar): bottles placed by hand, filling triggered by foot pedal or timer; the machine body is split-type and can be mounted on legs or a bench; one operator. Automatic models (A2/A4/A6, FA2/FA4/FA6, AD-5000): PLC touchscreen settings plus conveyor positioning and SICK photoelectric "no bottle, no fill"; multi-head simultaneous filling; connects directly to a complete line.
1.2.3 Key Variables Affecting Fill Quality
- Fill accuracy depends on: stability of the material feed pressure, filling speed, material viscosity, filling head up/down speed, and the opening and closing speed of the upper and lower valves (spring pressure is adjustable).
- Filling speed depends on: material viscosity, fill volume, nozzle diameter (larger diameter fills faster), cylinder speed and filling head lift speed.
- Foaming materials: reduce the discharge speed or use two-stage filling (fast then slow).
1.3 Core Value
| Value dimension | What it delivers |
|---|---|
| Accuracy replaces guesswork | Piston type ≤ ±1%, replacing manual visual filling; fewer overflows and short-fill complaints, and a direct reduction in material loss |
| Multiplied throughput | Semi-automatic 10–40 cycles/min; automatic 10–40 cycles/min × 2/4/6/8 heads; stand-up pouch 10–30 pouches/min; automatic powder 1,800–4,000 cycles/hour; aerosol 4,000–5,000 cans/day |
| Compliance and safety | 304 stainless steel product-contact parts (316 optional), silicone O-rings (200 °C), GMP compliant; pneumatic construction with no electricity suits explosion-proof applications such as alcohol, fragrance and aerosols |
| Easy cleaning and maintenance | Quick-release nozzles and feed pipes, clamp-type connections between hopper and pump body, bottom shut-off nozzles to prevent dripping — no tools needed for changeover and cleaning |
| Scalable architecture | Start with a single semi-automatic unit and add a conveyor, capper and labeler later to upgrade to a full line, protecting the initial investment |
| Low entry threshold | Hand press A03 from about USD 188, magnetic pump DF-A from about USD 380 — a low-cost entry point for small-batch and trial-production customers |

3. Common Questions and Technical Answers
3.1 Selection and Principle FAQ
Q1: Can a liquid filling machine fill paste? No. A paste filling machine can fill both liquids and pastes (dual-purpose), but a liquid filling machine can only fill liquids. The piston chamber and valve flow path are designed differently — a liquid machine's flow path cannot pass high-viscosity material. When the customer's material is viscous, recommend the FF / DFF / FA series directly.
Q2: What if the material contains particles? Standard piston-type and magnetic pump machines cannot handle materials containing particles, or the particles must be extremely small. For particulate materials switch to an auger powder filler (PDF / SDF / ADF, for powders and small granules) or a granule weighing machine (GPM / KY series).
Q3: Can one machine cover 10 ml to 5,000 ml? No. Each machine's fill volume band is fixed (determined by piston bore and stroke). A wide volume span requires machines in different bands. For customers with several specifications, recommend one machine for the main specification plus interchangeable cylinder bodies.
Q4: What is the actual filling accuracy? Piston volumetric ≤ ±1%; magnetic pump ≤ ±2% (repeatability <0.5%); auger powder ≤ ±1%; bulk weighing ±0.3%, small-pack granule ±1–5%. The main influencing factors are feed pressure stability, filling speed, material viscosity and filling head lift speed.
Q5: Pneumatic or electric — which should I choose? - All-pneumatic: no power supply, inherently explosion-proof, ideal for alcohol, fragrance, aerosols and solvents; the customer must provide an air compressor (0.4–0.6 MPa); simple construction, low failure rate and low maintenance cost. - Electric and electronic (CNC / magnetic pump / automatic): requires 220 V; the PLC touchscreen allows precise parameter setting, higher speed and easy integration into a complete line.
Q6: Why are the horizontal models the mainstay? Horizontal all-pneumatic models (F6/FF6 series) use hose or hopper self-priming, giving high accuracy, easy cleaning and a mature design — these are the most frequently recommended models in this product line. Vertical models (FF4/FF5) allow fill volume and speed to be adjusted freely within a range, but horizontal paste machines cover larger volumes.
Q7: What special requirements do high-viscosity pastes have? Very sticky materials must use a PTFE piston (about USD 50 each), otherwise friction between piston and cylinder wall damages the seal and causes fill volume drift. If the material also segregates or solidifies, add an agitated hopper (B type) or a heated and agitated hopper (C type).
Q8: Can stand-up pouches and bottles share one machine? No. Stand-up pouches require dedicated pouch pushing, pouch blowing, cap hanging and cap twisting mechanisms. Choose F8 / DF8 / DFF8 (semi-automatic) or the AF8-1000 / TD-1A / LGD series (all-in-one and automatic models).
Q9: Why is the perfume filling machine not limited by bottle shape? Because it uses level positioning: the nozzle is inserted to a fixed depth and excess material returns automatically to the tank. Inconsistent container heights still produce the same fill level — the standard approach for perfume and florida water products. Note that it cannot fill paste.
Q10: What are the MOQ, lead time and payment terms? - MOQ: 1 set (most models are in stock). - Stock models: goods in stock, shipped after payment. - Custom models and complete lines: 30–45 working days (perfume line 45–55 working days). - Payment: 100% T/T for standard orders; complete lines 30% deposit + 70% before shipment (some lines 60% deposit + 40% before shipment). - Trade terms: EXW Wenzhou / FOB Ningbo.
Q11: What are the packaging and shipping standards? Semi-automatic models usually ship in reinforced cartons (some in plywood cases); automatic machines and complete lines use plywood crates; exports are packed as export-grade plywood crates for long-distance transport.
Q12: What about warranty and after-sales service? One-year warranty on the whole machine. Within the warranty period, damage under normal use per the manual is repaired or replaced free of charge (the customer bears freight from China to the local destination); if an engineer is required on site, travel costs are borne by the customer. Lifetime repair service is provided beyond the warranty period. Products carry CE certification.
3.2 Troubleshooting Quick Reference (symptom → cause → action)
Compiled from the "common faults and remedies" chapters of the piston paste machine manual, the semi-automatic aerosol machine manual and the stand-up pouch fill and cap machine manual.

| Can deformed after crimping | crimp depth or diameter out of tolerance | recalibrate the crimping parameters to standard |
| Filling head drips or seals poorly | spring inside the filling head failed; foreign matter between the seal body and gasket | replace the spring; remove the foreign matter or replace the gasket |
3.3 Daily Maintenance Checklist
The "five fixed" lubrication principle (fixed personnel, fixed interval, fixed points, fixed quantity, fixed lubricant quality):
| Location | Lubricant | Frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Worm gear reducer | worm gear oil / hypoid gear oil / engine oil | replace periodically |
| Rolling bearings | lithium-based grease ZL-3 or silicone universal grease | top up periodically |
| Slideways and rack-and-pinion | lithium-based grease ZL-3 | top up periodically |
| Air source lubricator | dedicated pneumatic oil | check and top up frequently |
Daily checks:
- Before start-up each day, check the air pressure (0.4–0.6 MPa; 0.5–0.8 MPa for complete lines), the power supply (220 V) and whether the emergency stop has been reset.
- Drain the oil-water separator at the air inlet regularly to prevent moisture from entering the piping and corroding the valves.
- Clean the material filter and the piping periodically.
- Periodically check all fittings and valve bodies for leaks, and tighten all fasteners to eliminate looseness.
- Periodically check moving parts (rolling bearings, timing belts) for wear and replace them promptly when severe.
- After one year of operation, or during a routine overhaul, touch up the paint for corrosion protection.
- When not producing, stop the machine and switch off power and air; never leave tools, rags or other foreign objects inside the machine.
Key safety rules: adjustments must be made with the machine not in automatic operation, and by one person only; never touch moving mechanisms while the machine is running; long hair must be covered and scarves, bracelets or watches that could be caught must not be worn; after a power failure the machine may restart automatically when power returns, so stay clear of moving parts.

4.2 Typical Customization Cases
Case 1 | High-viscosity sauce filling Requirement: ketchup and chili sauce, viscous and clinging to the walls. Solution: FF6 / DFF6 series + PTFE piston + large agitated hopper (B type) + bottom anti-drip nozzle + blow-off function. Rationale: the PTFE piston prevents seal damage; the agitated hopper prevents segregation; the anti-drip nozzle stops material from clinging and dripping onto the bottle.
Case 2 | Explosion-proof filling (alcohol and fragrance) Requirement: 75% alcohol disinfectant, with an explosion-proof requirement in the workshop. Solution: all-pneumatic F6 series (no power supply) + 316 product-contact parts + corrosion-resistant rubber seals; for expansion, an A4-500 + DC1 + conveyor + AL-220 complete line. Rationale: an all-pneumatic machine has no electrical components, eliminating ignition sources at the root.
Case 3 | Segregating materials (honey and peanut butter) Requirement: the material separates and skins over when left standing. Solution: FF6C / DFF6C heated and agitated hopper models keep a constant temperature and recirculating agitation before filling.
Case 4 | Stand-up spout pouches Requirement: detergent and jelly spout pouches needing filling and capping in one unit. Solution: LGD02 (single-head benchtop rotary all-in-one, 30–2,000 g, 10–30 pouches/min, one operator), or AF8-1000 for mass production (120 cycles/min); choose the rotary pump with horizontal agitated hopper version for sauces.
Case 5 | Complete line customization (bottled mass production) Requirement: an integrated line from bottle unscrambling to labeling. Solution: Bottle Unscrambler (bottle dia. ≤80 mm) + FA4-1000 four-head filler + AC1 automatic capper + AL-220 round bottle labeler, RMB 87,000, lead time 30–45 working days; glass guard, 316 material, bottle washer and inkjet coder can be added.
Case 6 | Special containers (aluminum-cap glass bottles and oral liquid) Requirement: oral liquid glass bottles with aluminum caps. Solution: double-head automatic filling system + cap placement system + single-head automatic capping system (dedicated aluminum-cap line), or the NLA-ALC-500 complete line.

4.5 Customization Boundaries (What We Cannot Promise)
To reduce after-sales risk, the following boundaries must be made clear before the sale:
- A liquid machine cannot be converted into a paste machine — the flow path and piston design differ, and conversion costs more than a new machine.
- Standard piston and magnetic pump models cannot be promised for materials containing particles — an auger dosing or weighing solution is required.
- No commitment to an excessively wide volume range — the fill volume band of one machine is fixed, so a wide span requires multiple models.
- Perfume level-positioning models cannot be promised for paste.
- Custom machines do not achieve better accuracy than the standard tolerance — customization optimizes fit (container, viscosity, capacity); it cannot exceed the accuracy limit of the dosing principle.
- No final accuracy or capacity commitment without container and material samples — accuracy and speed are affected by material viscosity and container consistency.
