Continuous Band Sealer — Selection Guide & Product Overview
I. What Is a Continuous Band Sealer?
A Continuous Band Sealer (also called a band sealing machine / bag sealing machine) is an automated packaging device that clamps the pouch mouth between two constant-speed conveyor belts. The heat-seal film is fused by a heated copper block, cooled and set, then discharged continuously. Combined with different coding modules, it can simultaneously emboss production dates, batch numbers, QR codes, and other information onto the seal while sealing.
-
Core Value: It upgrades "manually pressing the bag mouth" into a "continuous, non-stop inline sealing" process. A single operator can handle both filling and collecting. The seal pattern is uniform and strong, with excellent airtightness, significantly extending the shelf life of food / products. It is standard equipment on soft-packaging lines across the food, daily-chemical, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and hardware industries.
-
Applicable Industries: Food factories, bakeries and tea, pharmaceuticals and health products, daily-chemical and cosmetics, agricultural products, chemicals, hardware and auto parts, and virtually every other sector.
Core Working Procedure
The sealing operation is accomplished collaboratively by the main unit, the temperature controller, and the coding module. The standardized process is divided into four stages:
- Bag Prep & Filling (Pre-Process)
-
Place the product into a heat-sealable flexible pouch (aluminum-foil bag, laminated bag, plastic bag, etc.), leaving sufficient space at the mouth and avoiding material sticking to the sealing zone.
-
Preheat & Speed Adjustment (Preparation)
- After powering on, turn on the cooling fan (air cooling) and the heating switch, and set the temperature on the digital temperature controller according to the film material and thickness;
-
Ink-Roller models must additionally turn on the printing heater to soften the solid ink (wait 3–5 mins). Inkjet models simply need to boot up the touchscreen system.
-
Sealing & Coding (Core Process)
- Feed the pouch mouth into the guide plate; it then passes through, in order: Heated copper block fusion → Cooling & setting → Synchronized coding (steel print / ink roller / inkjet) → Smooth discharge;
-
Nitrogen-flush models inject nitrogen into the bag through a dedicated nozzle before the film fuses, displacing oxygen before sealing to achieve "nitrogen preservation + anti-crush."
-
Collecting & Shutdown (Post-Process)
- Proper shutdown (the key to preventing belt burn-out): First switch off the heating / coding switch, keep the fan and conveyor running empty for 3–5 minutes to force cooling, and only cut the main power once the temperature drops below 100 °C. Inkjet models must also remove the cartridge and snap it back into its sealed clip to prevent nozzle dry-out and clogging.
II. Core Model Selection Table
To meet different material forms, coding-compliance requirements, and freshness needs, we divide our equipment into the following 2 series:
1. Standard Continuous Sealing Series (basic sealing + synchronized coding)
This is the mainline continuous-sealing series. By "Printing method" it is split into three types — steel print, ink roller, and smart inkjet — covering every need from zero-consumable to one-code-per-item traceability.
| Model | Printing Method | Power | Sealing Speed | Seal Width | Temp. Range | Form / Application | Key Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FR-900 Continuous Band Sealer | Steel Print (ink-free embossed mark) | 750W | 0–16 m/min | 12 mm | 0–300 °C | Horizontal / Vertical optional; choose Vertical for liquids, pastes, powders, stand-up pouches | Zero-consumable steel print physically embosses date / batch; vertical head adjustable 12–30 cm to fit tall/short bags; one machine handles both solid dry goods and leak-prone materials. |
| FR-1000 Solid-Ink Roller / Ink Wheel Continuous Band Sealer | Solid ink roller (solid black print) | 850W | 0–16 m/min | 12 mm | 0–400 °C | Horizontal | Dual independent temperature control (seal + ink roller); bold, instant-dry, scratch-resistant ink print — the top choice for supermarkets and compliant traceability. |
| PM-1800 Inkjet Printing Continuous Band Sealer | Inkjet Printing (touchscreen + cartridge) | 750W | 0–16 m/min | 12 mm | 0–400 °C | Horizontal | Seal + print in one; touchscreen edits production date / batch / QR code / barcode / graphic LOGO; change content anytime, no type slugs needed; cartridge swaps in seconds. |
2. Nitrogen-Flush Sealing Series (suitable for puffed food, nuts, coffee, and other fragile / easily-oxidized products)
This series integrates a nitrogen-injection function on top of standard continuous sealing, delivering dual protection of "extended shelf life + anti-crush" through oxygen displacement + air-cushion buffering.
| Model | Printing Method | Power | Sealing Speed | Seal Width | Temp. Range | Key Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nitrogen-Flush Continuous Band Sealer (Steel Printing) | Steel Printing (ink-free embossed mark) | 500W | 0–12 m/min | 13 mm | 0–300 °C | Nitrogen preservation + anti-crush. Nitrogen flow manually adjustable; optional independent regulating valve (+USD 100); customer supplies own nitrogen cylinder; suitable film thickness 0.02–0.08 mm. |
| Nitrogen-Flush Continuous Band Sealer (Ink Wheel Printing) | Solid-Ink Roller/ Ink Wheel Printing (solid black print) | 650W | 0–12 m/min | 13 mm | 0–300 °C | Same as above, with clear, bold ink-roller print for supermarket compliance; approx. 5 KG heavier than the steel-print version (31 KG vs 26 KG). |
III. Technical Q&A & Common Issues (FAQ)
1. Quick Selection Decisions
- Q1: Horizontal or Vertical?
-
A: It depends on the filled material form —
- Solid dry goods (nuts, coffee beans, biscuits, hardware parts, etc. that lie flat without leaking): choose Horizontal — easiest bag loading, fastest speed;
- Liquids, pastes, powders, stand-up pouches (chili sauce, shampoo, flour, etc.): must choose Vertical (FR-900 Vertical), with bags conveyed upright to eliminate leaks and spills.
-
Q2: How to choose among steel printing, solid-ink roller printing , and inkjet printing?
- A:
- Steel Printing (FR-900): Metal type slugs hot-press an embossed mark — no color, zero ink consumables; for internal transfers, where date visibility is not critical, and customers pursuing the lowest running cost;
- Solid-Ink Roller Printing (FR-1000): A solid hot-melt roller prints clear black solid text, instant-dry and scratch-resistant — the first choice for supermarket sales and compliant traceability;
- Inkjet Printing (PM-1800): Free touchscreen editing, can print QR code / barcode / graphic LOGO, meeting "one-code-per-item, full traceability, content changeable anytime" — something neither steel print nor ink roller can do; the trade-off is needing spare ink-cartridge consumables.
2. Nitrogen Models & Daily Maintenance
- Q3: Does the nitrogen sealer come with its own nitrogen cylinder?
- A: No, and it has no nitrogen-generating function. The machine only includes the inflation nozzle; the customer must supply their own local nitrogen cylinder / tank (any brand/capacity with an external interface will do) and provide their own gas hose with an 8 mm outer diameter (8 mm outer / 5 mm inner).
IV. Factory Customization & Supporting Ecosystem
As a source manufacturing factory, we provide not only standard models but flexible customization and supporting capabilities for global customers:
- Form customization: The FR-900 supports Horizontal / Vertical forms; the vertical head height is adjustable (12–30 cm), perfectly fitting tall/short bag types.
- Printing-method customization: The same model can flexibly be equipped with Steel Printing / Solid-Ink Roller Printing / Smart Inkjet Printing, meeting different compliance and traceability needs from zero-consumable to one-code-per-item.
- Body-material customization: Both painted and stainless-steel bodies are available (FR-900 / FR-1000 both optional); the stainless-steel version better suits high-hygiene food and pharmaceutical workshops.
- Voltage & frequency customization: Standard support for 110V/60Hz (North America / US plug) or 220V/50Hz (EU / UK plug, etc.), configured at the factory by destination to avoid buyers receiving a unit that won't power on.
- Nitrogen optional parts: The nitrogen sealer can be fitted with an independent nitrogen regulating valve (+USD 100) for precise adaptation to different bag types and flush requirements.
